Jennifer Lawrence will be honored with the Donostia Award at the 73rd San Sebastian Film Festival. The Oscar-winning actor will receive the career honor at a Sept. 26 gala in the Kursaal Auditorium, followed by a screening of her latest film, “Die My Love.”
Directed by Lynne Ramsay and produced by Lawrence through her banner Excellent Cadaver, “Die My Love” premiered at Cannes earlier this year. Adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s novel, the drama stars Lawrence as Grace, a writer and young mother whose mental health unravels in rural Montana. Her increasingly erratic behavior puts a strain on her relationship with partner Jackson. The cast also includes Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek.
Lawrence won the best actress Oscar in 2012 for “Silver Linings Playbook” and has three additional nominations for “American Hustle,” “Joy” and “Don’t Look Up.” She headlined the “Hunger Games” franchise and, in 2018, launched Excellent Cadaver with producing partner Justine Ciarrocchi. The company’s slate includes “Causeway,” “No Hard Feelings,” and the documentaries “Zurawski v. Texas” and “Bread & Roses,” the latter of which earned a Peabody Award.
The Donostia Award is San Sebastian’s lifetime achievement honor. Past recipients include Penélope Cruz, Glenn Close, Denzel Washington, Sigourney Weaver and Ethan Hawke.
