Peacock has slated July 28 for the exclusive streaming debut of “Adaptive,” a three-episode documentary series chronicling the lives and training of four Team USA Paralympians. The series will also stream on TeamUSA TV. Alongside the announcement, Peacock released the first official trailer, which can be viewed below.

The inaugural season follows the journeys of Ezra Frech (para track and field), Jamal Hill (para swimming), Courtney Ryan, and Josie Aslakson (both wheelchair basketball) as they navigate competition from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics through to Paris 2024. The project is billed as an “an intimate and in-depth look into the lives of world-class Paralympic athletes.”

“Adaptive” is multi-episode documentary series offering all-access insight into the lives off our world-class Paralympic athletes chasing gold at the Paris 2024 Games. With the heartbreak of Tokyo 2020—marked by COVID protocols, empty arenas, and unfinished business—still fresh, each athlete recommits to the grind: intense training, high-stakes qualifiers, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

Along the way, they face challenges that threaten to derail their dreams, from injuries and mental hurdles to the demands of life beyond sport. But what sets them apart is their ability to adapt—to stay locked in, rise back up, and lead with purpose. Off the field, they’re powerful advocates for inclusion and equity in the disability community. And as the spotlight turns to Paris, they’ll put everything on the line—not just for medals, but to show the world what it truly means to be elite.

“Adaptive” is presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods in partnership with NBC Sports and produced by Vitium Productions. Additional production partners include Far Between Pictures, Cookie Jar & A Dream Studios (a DICK'S Sporting Goods company), and TFA Group, which previously released ‘Watershed' on Peacock during the Paris 2024 Games. The series was produced with the support of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

Ryan S. Porush (“A School Grown in Watts,” “The Passengers”) directed the series. Producers include Clayton Frech, Jay Snyder, Colin Weatherby, Ryan Suffern, and Christopher Stoudt. Angel City Sports, which provides adaptive sports opportunities for youth, adults, and veterans with physical disabilities, is the series’ exclusive impact partner.

Executive producers are Dave Pantano, Ezra Frech, Bahar Soomekh, Bill Bindley, Mike Karz, Jay Ruderman, and Mallory Weggemann.

In a statement, Joe Gesue, SVP of Olympic & Paralympic Programming and Planning at NBC Sports, called “Adaptive” “a shining example of the original, compelling, and authentic storytelling that Peacock and NBC Sports consistently deliver,” and highlighted the project’s role in building momentum toward the upcoming Paralympic Games in Milan-Cortina in 2026 and Los Angeles in 2028.

Mark Rooks, VP of Creative, Sponsorships & Entertainment at DICK’S Sporting Goods, added: “We are so incredibly proud to help tell Ezra, Jamal, Courtney and Josie’s stories.”

Frech, who also serves as an executive producer, said, “I hope viewers fall in love with the adaptive and Paralympic sports movement—because it’s everything sports should be.”
