Berlinale Shorts Sets 2025 Lineup

Twenty Titles Set for Competition; Fifteen World Premieres Confirmed Across Fiction, Animation and Documentary.

Navid Nikkhah-Azad is an Iranian film director and cinema journalist. He is a member of the Association of Dutch Film Journalists (KNF), the Dutch branch of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). He is the founder of 1TAKE NEWS and covers news about films and film festivals.

The Berlin International Film Festival has announced the complete selection for the Berlinale Shorts section of its upcoming 75th edition.

A total of 20 short films from 18 countries will compete in the official short film competition. Of these, 15 are set to have their world premieres. The selection includes works across fiction, animation, and experimental documentary.

The Berlinale Shorts section will also feature a special program of six short films drawn from previous festival editions.

The 75th Berlin International Film Festival will open on February 13 with the world premiere of Tom Tykwer's Das Licht (Light), screening out of competition, and runs through February 23.
