The 28th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) will present ten world premieres in its Critics’ Picks competition, a section designed to to showcase bold cinematic works and contemporary masterpieces. The festival runs Nov. 8–24 in Tallinn, Estonia.
Critics’ Picks, launched in 2022, enters its third edition with Paulo Marinou-Blanco’s “Dreaming of Lions” as the opening title and Masaki Tsujino’s “The Brothers Kitaura” closing the program. The lineup includes films from Europe, South America, Asia, and North America, reflecting the festival’s continued emphasis on international diversity.
The 2024 selection features titles from directors including Adilkhan Yerzhanov (“Moor”), Dechen Roder (“I, the Song”), Felipe Sholl (“Streets of Glória”), and Vincenzo Alfieri (“The Body”).
